Helping at the shelter can be self-therapeutic, self-healing...selfish

I have been watching YouTube videos recently, and so many have volunteers working at animal shelters. I get the feeling that a lot of these folks are working purely out of undefined compassion and love for animals. There is no other way to explain it. Nobody can be motivated by a branded t-shirt that a shelter provides, perhaps three times a year, to spend that much time with animals, working with animals that are often injured, horrifically uncared for, and often in a state of neglect that seems frightening. But then, I also see the other side of it. Some people need this to heal themselves, placate a mind that wanders too much, or often give way to temptations that are highly destructive. Helping at the shelter also has to be a healing mechanism, about creating hours within a day, week, or month that help to manage a sense of loss, regrets that won’t go away, or anxieties that seem to emerge out of nowhere. In the end, the shelter ecosystem seems like the perfect blend of some professionals, some volunteers who just want to be around animals or help, and others who see this as therapy without pills. Is it perfect? No. Just like families are not meant to function flawlessly, but they often give way to people with happy childhoods and lives well lived…

BEYOND PERSONAL OPINIONS: SHARING SOME INFORMATION ABOUT THIS SUBJECT GATHERED FROM THE WEB

Is helping at the animal shelter a part of prisoner reforms?

Volunteering at shelters is soulful recoery

Helping at an animal shelter can be a part of prisoner reform programs, as it can provide prisoners with valuable skills and experiences that can help them reintegrate into society upon their release. Programs that involve prisoners working with animals at animal shelters can provide prisoners with opportunities to learn responsibility, compassion, and teamwork. These programs can also help to reduce the stress and anxiety that many prisoners experience while incarcerated. Animal shelters can benefit from this type of program as well, as they are often short-staffed and can use the help of volunteers. There are several different programs that involve prisoners working with animals at animal shelters. Some programs involve prisoners caring for and training animals, while others involve prisoners providing administrative or maintenance support. These programs are usually offered through partnerships between animal shelters, correctional facilities, and non-profit organizations. It's worth noting that these programs are not always easy to implement and require careful planning and coordination between the involved parties to ensure the welfare of both the animals and the prisoners.

Why helping at animal shelters can help someone struggling with grief?

helping at shelter helps you overcome anxiety

Helping at animal shelters can be beneficial for someone who is struggling with grief because it can provide a sense of purpose and a sense of accomplishment. Caring for animals can also be a way to honor the memory of a loved one who had a special connection with animals. Working with animals can also provide a sense of comfort and companionship, which can be especially important for someone who is grieving. Interacting with animals can help to reduce stress and anxiety, and can also help to improve mood and overall well-being. Being around animals can also be therapeutic; it can provide a sense of calmness and non-judgmental companionship, which can be helpful for someone who is experiencing grief. Animals don't hold grudges, they don't judge, and they don't have expectations, which can be a comforting and healing environment for someone who is struggling with grief. Additionally, helping at an animal shelter can also provide a sense of community and belonging. It can be a way to connect with others who have similar interests and can be a way to feel like you are making a positive impact in the world. It's worth noting that grief is a complex and individual experience, and what works for one person may not work for another. It's important to understand that helping at an animal shelter should be one of the many coping strategies that a person can use to deal with their grief, and it's important to seek professional help if needed.

Which precautions should you take when visiting an animal shelter for the first time?

How to find animal shelters for casual visiting?

When visiting an animal shelter for the first time, there are several precautions that you should take in order to ensure the safety and well-being of both the animals and yourself. Follow the rules: Each animal shelter has its own set of rules and regulations, so it's important to follow them at all times. This may include things like not disturbing the animals while they are eating or sleeping, not entering certain areas of the shelter without permission, and not interacting with certain animals without permission.

Be mindful of your own health: Many animal shelters have animals that may be carrying diseases or parasites, so it's important to take precautions to protect yourself. This may include things like washing your hands frequently, wearing gloves or other protective gear, and not touching your face or eating while in the shelter.

Respect the animals: It's important to remember that the animals at the shelter are there because they have been abandoned or neglected, so they may be frightened or nervous. It's important to be gentle and calm when interacting with them and to respect their boundaries.

Be prepared: If you are planning on adopting an animal, it's important to be prepared by bringing the necessary items, such as a leash and collar, food, and a bed. Additionally, you should also be prepared to fill out paperwork and go through an interview process.

Be patient: Adopting an animal is a big responsibility, and it's important to take your time to find the right pet for you and your family. It's important to consider the animal's personality, breed, and specific needs when making a decision.

Have realistic expectations: Not all animals are perfect, and not all animals will be a perfect fit for your home. It's important to have realistic expectations when visiting an animal shelter and be open to the idea that the animal you adopt may have some behavior issues that need to be worked on.

Why are animal shelter Instagram stories often staged?

Animal shelter Instagram stories are often staged to showcase the animals in the most positive and appealing way possible, in order to increase their chances of being adopted. Shelters often use professional photographers or volunteers to take pictures and videos of the animals in a way that highlights their best features and personalities. This can include things like dressing the animals up in cute outfits, arranging them in playful poses, and taking photos and videos in a clean and well-lit environment. Staging the photos and videos in this way can help to show the animals in their best light and can help to make them more appealing to potential adopters. It can also help to showcase the personality and unique characteristics of each animal, which can help potential adopters connect with them and imagine them as part of their family. It's important to note that while the stories and photos may be staged, the shelters still provide accurate information about the animals' background, health condition, and any other important information that the adopters should know before adopting. It's also worth mentioning that animal shelters have the goal to find loving and caring homes for the animals they take care of, which is a noble cause, and they are using different techniques to achieve that goal.

Can you adopt an animal at an animal shelter without bringing the animal home?

Some animal shelters offer the option to adopt an animal without bringing them home immediately. This type of adoption is often referred to as "foster to adopt" or "trial adoption." It allows potential adopters to take an animal home on a trial basis to see if the animal is a good fit for their home and lifestyle before making a final decision to adopt. Foster-to-adopt programs allow potential adopters to provide a temporary home for an animal while the shelter continues to search for a permanent home. This can be especially beneficial for animals that may have special needs or may be recovering from an illness or injury.

During the foster period, the shelter will provide all necessary supplies, such as food, medication, and any other necessary items. The adopter will be responsible for providing a loving and nurturing home, as well as regular updates on the animal's health and behavior.

At the end of the foster period, the adopter will have the option to adopt the animal permanently or to return the animal to the shelter. If the adopter decides to adopt, the shelter will then finalize the adoption process, which will include signing the adoption contract and paying the adoption fee. It's worth noting that not all animal shelters offer this type of adoption, and the process and requirements can vary depending on the shelter. It's important to check with the shelter if they have such a program and what the requirements are before making a decision.

Does helping at the animal shelter give you any type of tax relief?

Helping at an animal shelter can be a rewarding experience, but it does not typically provide any specific tax relief. However, if the animal shelter is a non-profit organization that is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, donations made to the shelter may be tax-deductible. This means that if you make a monetary donation to the animal shelter, you may be able to claim a tax deduction for the donation amount on your federal income tax return. It's important to note that this applies only to monetary donations, not to in-kind donations, such as volunteering time or goods.

It's also worth mentioning that tax laws can be complex, and it's always a good idea to consult a tax professional or the IRS for guidance on how to claim a tax deduction for charitable donations. However, volunteering at an animal shelter may help you to qualify for other tax benefits, such as mileage reimbursement for travel to and from the shelter, as long as you can prove that you were traveling for charitable purposes. In addition, if you are a business owner, you may be able to deduct the cost of supplies, such as food and bedding, that you donate to the animal shelter as a business expense. All in all, helping at an animal shelter can be a great way to give back to your community and make a difference, but it may not directly provide any tax relief.

Can you visit an animal shelter in India every day?

Why are adoption laws at animal shelters in India?

It depends on the specific animal shelter you are interested in visiting. Some animal shelters in India may have regular visiting hours and may allow visitors to come and see the animals every day, while others may have more limited visiting hours or may not allow visitors at all. It's important to check with the specific animal shelter you are interested in visiting to find out their visiting hours and policies. Many animal shelters in India have specific visiting hours and may require that you make an appointment or get permission before visiting. Some shelters may also have restrictions on the number of visitors allowed at one time. Additionally, it's important to note that animal shelters are not only for entertainment and visiting, it's a place where animals are taken care of and treated, so the animals' welfare should be the top priority. It's important to be respectful of the animals and their needs while visiting. It's also worth mentioning that some animal shelters in India are overcrowded and may not have the resources to accommodate frequent visitors, so it's important to consider the impact that your visit may have on the shelter and its animals before deciding to visit.

Is it a good idea to leave pets at an animal shelter when you are traveling overseas?

Leaving pets at an animal shelter when you are traveling overseas is not generally considered to be a good idea. Animal shelters are typically not set up to provide long-term care for pets and may not have the resources or the staff to provide the level of care that your pet needs. Additionally, animal shelters are often overcrowded, and your pet may not receive the attention and care that they need.

There are several alternatives to leaving your pet at a shelter while you are traveling. One option is to hire a pet sitter or a dog walker to take care of your pet while you are away. This can provide your pet with the care and attention they need while still allowing them to stay in the comfort of their own home. Another option is to board your pet at a kennel or a pet hotel. These facilities are often staffed by experienced pet care professionals who can provide your pet with the care and attention they need while you are away.

You can also ask friends or family members if they are willing to take care of your pet while you are away. This can provide your pet with a familiar and comfortable environment while you are away. It's also worth noting that it's not always possible to take your pet with you when you travel overseas, due to quarantine laws or other restrictions. In those cases, it's important to research and find a reputable and trustworthy pet boarding facility that can provide your pet with the best possible care while you are away.

Loving Kadimi | The food, the cat, the no-nonsense environment!

food review kadimi restaurant in west south delhi
I am resuming blogging after some time now. The subject this time around is one place that Me & Moha are loving for a casual bite, snacking, and hassle-free dining experiences. Kadimi, in Janakpuri, might look like just another eatery since the layout is rather simple, but step inside, give this place a couple of visits, and you start noticing things that can get you addicted. The location is surprisingly uncluttered despite the nearness to arterial roads that are the lifeline of commuters in this part of Delhi. For some reason, the marketplace Kadimi occupies remains unaffected by traffic pile-ups and dysfunctional lights. The parking is right along the curb, but without the worry of your four-wheeler being hauled by self-righteous crane operators.

Why many men don't like wearing hoodie sweatshirts to the office?

Some people believe that the key to success is dressing for the job you want, not the job you have. But is this always true? When it comes to office clothing, it can be difficult to find the balance between making too much of an effort and not enough of one. Hoodie sweatshirts are often seen as too casual for the office, but does that mean they're always a bad choice? In this article, we'll take a closer look at the pros and cons of wearing hoodies to work.

The hoodie: too casual for the office?

Hoodies are often associated with a more casual look. They are often seen as being too casual for the office. Wearing a hoodie to the office can make you look unprofessional. Hoodies can be seen as sloppy and unkempt. These are some of the reasons why many men avoid wearing hoodie sweatshirts to the office. They want to maintain a professional appearance, and they know that a hoodie might not send the right message. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule. If you work in a creative field or if your office has a relaxed dress code, then you might be able to get away with wearing a hoodie to work. But in most cases, it's best to err on the side of caution and dress more formally for the office.

'Dress for the job you want, not the job you have'

One of the most important things you can do when dressing for the office is to dress for the job you want, not the job you have. By dressing for success, you send a strong message about your aspirations and can be one step closer to achieving your career goals. Of course, it's important to make sure your clothes are well-fitting and appropriate for the workplace - you don't want to overdo it and look like you're trying too hard. But if you can find the right balance, dressing for success can help you get ahead in your career.

The line between comfortable and too comfortable

Assuming you want a continuation of the article:

The line between comfortable and too comfortable can be difficult to find when dressing for the office. On one hand, you want to be comfortable so that you can concentrate on your work. On the other hand, you don't want to look like you just rolled out of bed. It is important to find a balance between the two.

Here are some tips on how to achieve the balance between looking stylish and feeling comfortable at the office:

- Choose clothing that is made from natural fabrics such as cotton or linen. These fabrics are breathable and will keep you cool in summer and warm in winter.

- Avoid wearing clothes that are too tight or too loose. Clothing that is too tight will be uncomfortable and may restrict your movement. Clothing that is too loose may look sloppy.

- Choose simple clothing designs over complex ones. Complex designs can be distracting and make you look like you're trying too hard.

- Add a few personal touches to your outfit to make it unique. A scarf, brooch or pair of earrings can make all the difference.

Making an effort vs. being 'put together'

There is no one answer when it comes to how much effort you should put into your office clothing. It is a personal decision and depends on factors such as your job, company culture, and the industry you work in. Some people believe that you should 'dress for the job you want, not the job you have.' This means that even if you are not in a position of power yet, dressing as though you are sends the message that you are confident and capable. On the other hand, some people believe that as long as you look 'put together,' that's all that matters. They argue that it is more important to be comfortable in what you are wearing so that you can focus on your work.

So, what do you think? Should you dress for the job you want or the job you have? Or is it more important to be comfortable and 'put together'? Let us know in the comments below!

The power of first impressions

The power of first impressions is important, especially in the workplace. The way you dress can impact the way your boss and colleagues perceive you. It is important to strike the right balance between dressing too casually and too formally for the office.

Your clothing choices can send a message of confidence and capability. Dressing for the job you want can help you get ahead in your career. However, it is important to find a balance between making too much of an effort and not enough of one - especially when it comes to office clothing.

It can be difficult to find the balance between looking stylish and feeling comfortable at the office. Choosing clothing that is made from natural fabrics such as cotton or linen can help you stay comfortable throughout the day. Wearing clothes that are too tight or too loose can be distracting and make it difficult to concentrate on your work. Simple clothing designs are often more flattering and professional-looking than complex ones.

Adding a few personal touches to your outfit can make it unique without being too casual. For example, you could wear a scarf or statement necklace with a basic button-down shirt. The debate over how much effort to put into office clothing is a personal one, and depends on factors such as job, company culture, and industry. In the end, it is up to the individual to decide what is best for them.

Why spray painting is also about training your mind? OR Challenging it…you be the judge!

spray painting discussions january 2026
If you have been glancing at my DIY submissions about the weird and often excessively adventurous trials and tribulations that are usually about Home Improvement, Home Repairs, DIY Builds, and Unwanted Landscaping, this discussion will not surprise you. Now, one of the most recurring aspects of my DIY voyages has been painting. This started with the usual route of buying an acrylic paint, a bottle of turpentine oil to dilute the paint, and a standard painting brush. The strokes were going well, the results were beginning to impress, and the compliments, though scanty, had started to surface. Just when I thought that my brush journey had started, I got this idea about spray painting. The thought was actually an afterthought, a few days after I had gotten the rear bumper of my aging Maruti Swift painted.

DIY Anxiety Explorations: it is not generalized, not GERD, not Acute or Extreme!

sudden bouts of anxiety without a hint can throw off life
This blog is a testament to my anxious soul, my habit of overthinking things, and being a bit volatile. For a long time, I had been believing that there is nothing really new about anxiety issues, about the anxiety of any type that I have not experienced. But September was a rude awakening and a realization that I did not see coming. This time, I have experienced anxiety in its most unusual way. Think of it as some sort of shakiness or feeling unsettled despite not worrying about anything, without obsessing over things around me. This bout of anxiety is very subtle, but it remains in the system for the day. A few lone moments or working on some DIY project where my mind wanders around a bit can bring it on. This is the most spontaneous form of anxiety that is not about meeting new people or handling new situations. Many times, it comes up when there is nothing disturbing me at the moment, even when I am not fixating on the small imperfections, I tend to notice a bit too much.

It is present when I am doing the everyday tasks, the daily duties, and still, it manages to surface, making me a bit shaky. This is not Generalized Anxiety, for I understand it rather well. This does not feel anxious due to something bothering me subconsciously. The feeling can be very unsettling. It is new to me despite having experienced this problem for more than a decade. I had been talking about it and trying to explain it even before talking about anxiety and mental health issues became cool. Even worse is the fact that this undefined anxiety surfaced at a time when there were birthdays to celebrate, and I had to undertake abstinence from all types of alcohol. Perhaps, the mind dug a bit too much into elders in the family being old, very old, and some passing away. Perhaps, the mind was unconsciously concerned about the cycle of Life and impending Death, which everyone knows and talks about but does not know how to interact with when such incidents actually come calling. No Valium this time around. I am like, "...let us do this without trying to create a fix". Yes, any instance of death in the far-away family circle too starts this bout of anxiety, and it creeps up like a feeling of wire going through my lower legs.

Reasons why me and Mr. Waffles, representing all waffles known to mankind, are not getting along…

why I don't like waffles
Okay, you like waffles, and you believe that there can be nothing unlikable about them. However, the reality is different. There are plenty of folks like me who just cannot get their mind around what seems like a rehash of pancakes, baked cake-like stuff, and crusty pies. Waffles remain elusive to me in terms of having a taste, an individual flavor that separates them from the rest. Competitors here include many types of bread and bakery essentials like biscotti or cookies. A waffle is supposed to have a crusty exterior, and the insides are supposed to be warmer and softer. However, the manner in which waffles are served these days means that the outer surfaces are already overwhelmed with many sauces and flavoring bits. The outside crust is already lost. The more you try to dice and mix up the fruits and creams, the more waffles are likely to lose its individuality, not that it really have a unique identity to preserve.

Honey, I need some more honey – yes, I eat the warm, gooey thing almost every day!

Love of eating honey - pure foods
These days, my wife has started a morning ritual of swallowing a bit of aloe vera juice as soon as I get out of bed. She remembers it, pours it, reminds me about it, and then follows up as to whether I consumed the supposed Digestive tract soothing agent or not. Notwithstanding, discussing her affection for me, this adds one more thing to what I consume every day, to a list that is dominated by Honey. For some reason, I have been having that sticky, amber-colored stuff for years now. I love to spread it on hot, toasted slices along with butter. I dip my digestive biscuits in it. It is also the SOS when sugar cravings hit me badly, and I don’t have the good stuff to satiate the cravings. Other inclusions to the daily regimen include honey in hot water, infused with herbal tea extracts that I carry to the office. I might put some on vanilla ice cream served with almonds and cornflakes. What makes it so good?

Big sandwiches are good but when they turn meal-sized, are we still eating them like a sandwich?

eating big burgers with forks
The other day, I was at Burger Place, Rajouri Garden,  and I ordered the double-egg burger. Here, the burger patty was really big. It had been filled with poached eggs and lots of green veggies. The result was a true gastronomic delight. The eggs were slightly mushy and, when pressed slightly, almost hung tightly to either side of the burger buns like some industrial adhesive, and the flowy sauces and cheese things were equally warm and orgasmic. However, I had a small issue. I just couldn’t eat the burger like a burger. It was too big. It was oozing too much of the good stuff. I could not afford to press and kill my vulnerable Patty. And I hate when the cheese starts to drip. So, the solution was finding refuge in a plastic fork and slowly eating away at the hand-sized burger. Did this ruin the taste? Not really. I should say not at all. In fact, having a burger like a plateful of the meal was a refreshing experience. Now, when I compare this with some of the sandwiches I come across in Delhi’s cheese-based eat-out locations, it seems that eating these sandwiches, held up like the traditional way of eating your bread, is not really practical.

Getting Started with My Bathroom Tile Deco Work Project

Using Blue Aqua Tiles Home Improvement Project Using AdhesivesI am the definition of a greenhorn when it comes to anything related to being artsy or doing tile-work, but this time around, I found the courage and the gumption to start something that could be potentially disastrous if not done properly. So, I am taking a few minutes to describe what this DIY project is going to be about, and will keep dropping in regular updates:

The Plot

WE are in a bit of disarray and indecision when it comes to refurbishing the bathroom. Our new home is somewhat prone to moisture seepage. There have been repeated rounds of arguments in the building as to how this issue should be tackled. The expenses would be huge, and invariably, all inhabitants of the apartment building would need to contribute a lot more than what they are paying as the monthly security and maintenance amount. This is the biggest issue, too, when it comes to setting up the scaffolding and starting the critical, structural re-strengthening repairs.

Miracles from Heaven - not a great movie, perhaps a FAITH booster!

watching amazon prime movies on sunday
This is about Faith, the struggle, how to reconnect, and wait out the worst
If you Google the title, you will find a description along the lines of "Miracles from Heaven is a 2016 American Christian comedy drama...", but this might be the worst way to indicate the plot or the story that will unfold. I had my reasons to watch the movie. I am a big Jennifer Garner fan. I believe she has been the most perfect performer to have appeared across Hollywood productions, but with very little credit. As a movie summary, Miracles from Heaven speaks about a girl with an impossible-to-treat to treat type of digestive or intestinal disorder. Given my history of IBS and my recurring collisions with Faith, it made a lot of sense to watch Miracles from Heaven via my Amazon Prime account. The movie is not spectacular in any way. It does not get preachy, and neither is the plot too over-dramatic. Garner puts in a splendid performance, but there are moments when she oversteps into unwanted hysterics.

DIY Silicone Lessons via DIY Struggles in Handling Industrial Strength Compounds

I have been paying my dues in the niche of silicone adhesives - you might have read my first discussion about using these rather high-on-DIY spirit compounds that make life a lot easier for guys like me who are just getting around how to do small mend jobs around the house. Our living space is rather big for just two folks. The society here has been lethargic in its upkeep. As a result, many irritating things like small cavities and damp spots continue to bother us. This time, I have been proactive in using materials that I can easily buy from Amazon to turn into some sort of handyman, closer to what constitutes the definition of a family man for me. With some weeks of constant jobs and testing, I have concluded some handy information for you, i.e., if you want to understand how useful silicone can be provided you are using the right type, and yes, there are types here to handle:

Reviewing Guess Who – Inspired by Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, without getting Desperate!

lifestyle blog with Guess Who movie poster ashton kutcher bernie mac
There was something very likable, very identifiable with the original – Guess Who Is Coming To Dinner has been repeatedly referred to as a classic. My wife really loved it, while I just like the movie. In parts, the movie is brilliant. The cast seems like the ideal fit for the story that is really just about a very friction-heavy evening with conversations and arguments explaining everything, leaving very little to doubt. What has been referred to as Sidney Poitier’s best can be remade, but the remake has to be really good—Guess Who comes close to being a remake, but it seems like a more contemporary, spicier version of the original, borrowing the basic plot and keeping the overall treatment very different. Thanks to Ashton Kutcher, the laughs are not contrived. His future father-in-law is Black and dominant in a very literal way but the performance is rather good.

Reviewing Gurgaon – Not Just another NCR Riches Story or Culture Bashing

Gurgaon the movie reviewed - Amazon Flicks

Being new to Amazon Prime, we have been somewhat selective in choosing movies, as if the membership is going to hold us guilty for watching too many. We are slowly evolving into a couple that can watch TV for a longer duration, happily seated together, almost stuck like a plug in the socket. For some reason, I want to watch more horror flicks and thrillers, and my Wife wants more Rom-coms. I am discovering a new side to me where I can actually see and appreciate some seriously feminist-ridden stuff. However, this is not the case with Gurgaon—this is not a thriller or a romantic comedy in any way. This movie uses a sadistic plot to say something in the most subtle, almost passive way. It is a cinematic commentary on what transpires among the lives of those who have suddenly found riches around the suburbs of a cosmopolitan, people who knew how to grab, kill, and conquer but seem clueless when it comes to fully utilizing what they have gathered.
